Academic of the ISTO receives Bent Dalum PhD Award
"Jörg Claussen from the Institute for Strategy, Technology and Organization (ISTO) received the Bent Dalum PhD award at the DRUID Winter Conference 2011 for his paper 'Vertical Integration and the Scope of Uncertainty: Evidence from the PC Gaming Industry'. The award has been given this year for the first time in memory of Bent Dalum (1946-2010) to honor the most promising and innovative research project presented at the conference.
In his empirical study, Jörg Claussen examines how the relative attractiveness of vertical integration is influenced by market uncertainty and technological uncertainty. Using the empirical context of the PC gaming industry, he shows that uncertainty affecting multiple vertical stages (market uncertainty in the PC gaming industry) makes vertical integration more attractive. In contrast, uncertainty affecting only one vertical stage (technological uncertainty in the PC gaming industry) makes vertical integration less attractive."
