Research
Leon Zucchini's research focuses on competition between rival firms. He is interested in dynamic interactions at the level of the individual competitive move, as well as in managers' mental models of their competitive environment. A first joint project with Tobias Kretschmer investigates firms' responses to a buildup of competitive pressure using data on the German market for mobile telephony. Another (with Ulrik Nash) focuses on the mechanisms causing firms to take competitive action and a third looks how managers' limited perception of the competitive landscape influences performance. Leon's work is mainly empirical, but for current projects he plans to employ computer-based simulation modeling and laboratory experiments.
